At BeTheAuthor, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality, personalized books tailored specifically to your story. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. This policy outlines our approach to returns and refunds.
1. Our Quality Guarantee
We stand behind the quality of every book we produce. If your book arrives damaged, defective, or does not match what was shown in your preview, contact us within 14 days of delivery. We will replace it or issue a full refund — no questions asked.
2. Digital Edition Refunds
Due to the instant-delivery nature of digital products, digital editions are non-refundable once downloaded. However, we will provide a replacement or full refund if:
- Technical issues prevent you from accessing or downloading your book
- The digital file is corrupted, incomplete, or otherwise unusable
- The delivered content does not match what was shown in your preview
3. Physical Book Returns
All physical books (paperback and hardcover) created through BeTheAuthor are custom-made based on the information and preferences you provide during the book creation process. Due to this personalized nature:
- We cannot accept returns for books that were manufactured correctly and match what was shown in your preview
- Replacement or refund is available for manufacturing defects or shipping damage only
- Orders cannot be canceled once printing has begun (typically within 24 hours of order placement)
- You may request changes within 24 hours of placing your order by contacting our support team
4. Defective or Damaged Products
If you receive a defective or damaged product, we are absolutely here to help. Please follow these steps:
- Contact Us: Notify us within 14 days of receiving your book by emailing us at support@betheauthor.com or using our Contact Us page. Please include your order number and a detailed description of the issue.
- Provide Photos: Our team will ask you to provide photos of the defect or damage for verification purposes. This helps us improve our quality control and process your request quickly.
- Assessment: We will review your request within 2 business days and respond with next steps.
- Resolution: Once approved, we will either:
- Send a free replacement copy of your book, or
- Issue a full refund, based on your preference
What counts as defective or damaged:
- Missing or blank pages
- Printing errors (smudges, misalignment, poor image quality)
- Binding issues (pages falling out, spine damage)
- Cover damage or defects
- Damage during shipping (torn, bent, water damage)
5. Lost Packages
If your package appears to be lost in transit:
- Contact us if your package hasn't arrived within the estimated delivery window plus 5 business days
- We will work with our shipping partner to locate your package
- If the package cannot be found, we will send a replacement at no additional cost or issue a full refund
6. Refund Process
When a refund is approved:
- Refunds are processed through PayPal, the original payment method
- Refunds typically appear in your account within 5-10 business days
- You will receive an email confirmation when your refund has been processed
- Shipping costs are included in the refund for damaged or defective products
7. Preview Approval
Before completing your purchase, you are given the opportunity to preview your book, including the generated content and cover design. This preview is your checkpoint to verify that the book meets your expectations.
By approving the preview and completing payment, you confirm that you have reviewed the content and accept it as presented. Refunds will not be issued for dissatisfaction with content that was accurately represented in the preview.
8. Exceptions
We cannot offer refunds or replacements in the following situations:
- Errors caused by inaccurate or incomplete information you provided during the book creation process
- Dissatisfaction with AI-generated content after the book was created according to your inputs
- Change of mind after the book has been printed
- Damage caused by the recipient after delivery
- Packages delivered to the address you provided but claimed as not received
We encourage you to carefully review your book in the preview stage before completing your purchase to ensure you're satisfied with the content.
9. Reorders
Want another copy of a book you previously ordered? You can easily reorder:
- Log in to your account and visit your order history
- Select the book you want to reorder
- Additional copies are available at a discounted rate of $20 each for physical editions
10. Not Happy With Your Book?
While we cannot offer refunds for subjective dissatisfaction with AI-generated content that was approved in the preview, we genuinely care about your experience. If you are unhappy with your book for any reason, please reach out to us. We will do our best to find a reasonable solution on a case-by-case basis.
